Happy Thanksgiving

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and I hope your not feeling too stuffed today. ;)

Gerry and I finished all our Christmas decorating around the house yesterday morning. We have 9 trees in various sizes upstairs and two downstairs and one on our front porch. The outside lights are hung and on a timer and they came on last night and will come on every night till January 2nd. My question to you all....is anyone else all decorated? :)

I am off to start baking the cookies now....Start early, freeze often, take enough time you don't have to rush and enjoy the yearly traditions. Also hope you get enough company during the holidays you don't have to eat all those darn cookies!!!

My caddie is gone....

It's hard to explain the connection a person gets to their car. I'm sure everyone has had it...had a car they loved and drove a long time and actually felt like it was another appendage. This was the second Caddie STS I have owned. The first was a 1992, white with tan interior. This one, a 1997, was Diamond white with neutral interior. Same style, both white, same seating and no one knew I got a new car. I have always tried to take good care of my cars and this one was still in excellent condition with low mileage. Even though I just got the BMW I really didn't need a new car, what we needed was something that fit living in the country and carrying loads of groceries or dogs around. I tried to talk Gerry into giving up his 1995 rusty Dodge Ram and to drive the BMW and I would keep the Caddie. But he is a man and he needs a grunt mobile, hence a 'Truck'.
So I cleaned up the car and parked it in our front yard. A week later a man came and looked at it then called and made a date for the next day to test drive it. He and his wife came, they saw, they fell in love and they left a deposit. I tried to talk them into thinking about it for a few days in hopes Gerry's truck would die and we would be foreced to keep the Caddie but alas his truck is still going and now my car is gone. On Thanksgiving Eve the new owners came with a $7000.00 check and drove the old TENDR to her new garage.

I am sad and I will miss this old gal...she was a very good car.
An update on the license plate choices. I am transfering TENDR to the BMW since that plate is paid for for another year. Then next November I will check to see if MCKYLVR is still available and hang TENDR here in my office amid my other memories.

GETTING CLOSER TO A WINNER!

Oh boy...the choices are narrowing down. Nephew Rob may have picked the winner and Rob it is availiable. MCKYLVR. I was leaning toward TNDRHART since I have had TENDR forever but I do like Rob's suggestion. One other one that was available is LVSDOGS and since we have 5 dogs that is a given. Only thing that concerns me on that choice is I don't want anyone confusing my 4-legged pets with the Browns football team which is nicknamed the Dawgs.
And Tammi, your suggest is available but I just can't see myself driving around town with this vanity plate.
On that note......I am done blogging for tonight. LOL

LOOKING FOR IDEAS!

Gerry had to work today but before he left he came into our bedroom and asked if he could take the Beemer to work and show it off since I am not allowed to drive today. I'm telling you, he is LA LA over this car. I still think he should sell his truck and take this one. His Baby Boomerness is showing! I really think he would sell his truck and his Alfa to claim this new car. :)

Now I am looking for a new Vanity Plate. The one I currently have had for the last 10 years is TENDR on a Pet Lover license plate. I thought perhaps something Disney related would be a nice change. For the last couple of days Gerry and I have been playing on the OPLATES.com site trying different ideas. If I keep my Pet Lover plate I can only use 6 letters but if I use a standard plate I can use 7 letters. I am looking for ideas from all of you. 6 or 7 letters, either Disney related or Dog related. A few of the ones that did work were:

LUVDIZ

DIZWRD

WDIZNY

DEESX3

TENDRS

TNDHRT

WDWNUT

WDIZNET

LUVS PUP

PUPYCAR

TENDRX3

TNDRHRT

Okay family and friends...can you come up with any other ideas or do you like one of the above listed?

The winner of the chosen license plate gets a free drive in the new Beemer....if you can get the keys away from Gerry. ;)

GLAD THAT'S OVER!!

My Best Advice: BE PREPARED!

5 lbs of you know what went down the drain. That is the only good thing I can say about this experience. Although I did take everyone's advice on how to make the procedure easier and it all worked. If you need to have a colonoscopy remember the following:
1. Ask to take the pill option, it is much easier and you don't have to drink the Great Salt Lake.
2. Buy several different clear things to drink for variety.
3. Get Aloe lotion toilet paper.
4. Find Diaper Whipes for Sensitive skin.
5. Keep Vaseline on the back of the toilet.
6. Have on hand a heating pad to hold on your tummy and to keep warm cause as you are doing the prep it tends to give you the shivers.

When we arrived at the office this morning the nurse asked me how it went and other then some cramping I felt fine. No soreness anywhere. The test went easy, an IV, some drugs to knock you out for 15 minutes and then wakie, wakie! Doctor said everything was fine other then the diverticulitis pocket so I need to eat more fiber and if I have any more trouble we will deal with that bridge when and if the time comes. Surgery is not something I want - so I intend to start chewing on our half dead tree in the back yard, daily. :)

Doctor said I'll see you in 10 years. Yea!!

Off to breakfast, then home to bed to nap and catch up on the sleep I missed last night and today is a new clean day. ;)

New Wheels

What can I say......we are another day older and deeper in debt, like all people in the USA. Gerry and I have been discussing new cars for the last couple of years. Even though both of our vehicles are still in good running order they are 95 and 97 models. Our biggest fear is that they should both go out of commission at the same time and create a double car payment which would be impossible to deal with. We have been thinking about trading in my Caddie for a small SUV. So the last month or so we have been seriously narrowing down our choices. We looked at brand new Toyota Highlanders and Nissan Muranos and a couple other variations on the theme. We looked at the prices and I walked away with my hand on my heart repeating the Jewish comment "Oy Vay" and wondering how anyone can afford $40,000 for a new car? Well since I am not one to buy a new car we started looking at certified used cars and we found one that Gerry started drooling over and I liked the size, color, price and incentives that the dealership was offering. And guess what....is it NOT white! LOL
This is a 2004 BMW X3 with only 21,000 miles on it and the certification keeps the warranty going for another 3 years. What ya think? :)

We should be able to pick it up Monday which is also my prep for the colonoscopy day. I figure while I am sitting in the bathroom reading a book all day Gerry will be out cruising the country side.
Know anyone who is interested in buying my good old beautiful Caddie?
